Water pump question

Recommended Posts

Guest Guest

For the most part we have had "city" water hookup for our camping. However, when we use the fresh water tank, we seem to draw air when there is considerable water in the tank. I can't say what percentage of the tank is full when this happens, but it certainly has a lot of water left. If the tank is full, the pump works fine.

Are there any suggestions as to something we are doing wrong. Or does anyone have any idea as to how much water needs to be in the tank for the system to work correctly?

As always, any help appreciated.

Tom

The connection to the tank is at the rear of the trailer, make sure you have the front slightly higher than the back. This will push all the water to the collection point for the pump.

Thanks for that suggestion. I also need to do some checking to see how much water is still in the tank when this occurs.

Our experience is the same as that of DCKiefer. On our Oliver, the water outlet to the pump (and to the drain) is on the rear wall of the water tank and about 3/4 inch up from the bottom. Therefore, to get all (or most) of the water out, we have to tilt the front of the trailer up by about 10-15 degrees.
